New Testament Activity Pack – Review

Homeschool In The Woods  offers History Timelines and History-based Activity Studies as a companion for any History curriculum.  Our homeschool received The New Testament Activity Pack, one of the “Hands-on History Activity Packs”, which also include “The Old Testament” and “Artists”.  This is suggested for Grades 3-8, but we completed it as a family – my 5 year old and 10 year old, with much cutting, pasting, and assembly help from Mom.

There are 15 cut and paste activities in this pack, plus 2 larger products, so 17 activities in all.  From a teaching point of view, having things like parables in a mini-book to read over, and the side-by-side collection of prophecies in the Old Testament and their fulfillments in the New Testament is just terrific.  The entire set of 15 activities assembles and folds all up into a single file folder, very ingenious.  This is considered a “lap book” and was my first foray into lap books.  There was a bit of a learning curve on my part, as far as putting the whole thing together, but now that I have the hang of it I’m sure the next lap book will be easier.  I look forward to bringing this out again and reading over it with my children in the future as we continue to do bible readings.  If I had had more than 6 weeks to review this, I would have chosen to complete one per week with my children, as I found they became less than enthusiastic about all the cutting, pasting, and colouring.  One a week would allow more study and discussion on the topics and scriptures presented.  However, when it came time to do “The Armour of God” – my children were absolutely delighted.  They eagerly completed it in one sitting, and were excited to pin it up their creations on the wall.  Here they are…

The download version of the New Testament Activity Pack is $18.95 US.  On the website, you can also sign up for Homeschool In the Woods’ “Hands On Teaching Tips” monthly newsletter.
