It’s Not Back-to-School Blog Hop time. Time to share what homeschool curricula we’re using here in our homeschool for the 2010-2011 year. Links below will bring you to my reviews of the curricula for your convenience.
For both children:
Organizational: Sue Patrick’s Workbox System and Homeschool Tracker (free version)
Core Curriculum: Tapestry of Grace – Year 2 (includes Language, Literature, History, Geography & Bible)
Art: Mark Kistler’s online classes plus our ongoing Nature notebooks (inspired by Jill Novack)
Music: Music For Young Children – Moonbeams II classes with me
For my 11 year old:
Math: Teaching Textbooks Math 7
Science: Earth Science & Astronomy this year using How the Universe Works, How the Earth Works & our telescope
Logic: finishing up the Mind Benders series and starting Critical Thinking Book One then Two
Foreign Language: Latina Christiana II/Lingua Angelica/Henle Latin
First Start French I/II
Gaelic – no formal curriculum, just through various community gatherings & online resources
Computer Science: Simple Basic – free program from Microsoft
Our 6 year old:
Phonics/Spelling: continuing with The Phonics Road to Spelling and Reading
Math: We don’t do formal curriculum at this age, but she does play on the Star Wars Math CD-Rom
Science: The Usborne First Encyclopedia of Our World, The Usborne First Encyclopedia of Space, Spotter’s Guide: The Night Sky, The Stargazer’s Guide to the Galaxy, More Mudpies to Magnets, Glow-in-the-Dark Constellations & our telescope 🙂
Foreign Language: Prima Latina – no written work though, just oral, with some Lingua Angelica thrown in because she LOVES to sing
She also picks up on some Gaelic & French because her brother’s studying it
Other than Tapestry of Grace, all our curriculum resources were found in the pages of The Well-Trained Mind 🙂
Both my children also take part in a bunch of extracurricular and volunteer activities 🙂
