As soon as I was offered the opportunity to be involved in a blog tour of The 5 Love Languages, I jumped at the chance! I had heard a LOT about the book over the years, and had been given a run-down on the 5 love languages, but I had never read the book before! I received this book in exchange for an honest review 🙂
The 5 Love Languages is written by Dr. Gary Chapman, a marriage counsellor with over 30 years of experience. Peppered throughout the book are stories about real-life couples Chapman has come in contact with over the years, and how they taught him about the love languages. These sometimes amusing, often eye-opening stories make for very interesting reading. Overall I found the book engaging and easy to read.
So, what are these five love languages?
Quality Time
I left this book in the washroom and my hubby picked it up and read it as well (I always do that with books I want him to read, LOL). We each completed the quiz at the end of the book – there is one for husbands and one for wives. While we weren’t shocked by each other’s primary love languages, it did generate some terrific discussion between us and give us some perspective on our marriage. We are now keeping our love languages in mind as we go about each day. We also think we have our children’s love languages pegged, although I am planning on picking up the children’s version for more details.
P.S. Do you know what your primary love language is? If not, you can take a short assessment to find out on Gary Chapman’s website.
