Kid’s Sunflower Growing Contest @ Cape Breton Farmer’s Market April 17th

This Saturday the Cape Breton Farmers Market  is featuring a Kid’s Sunflower Growing Contest!

The contest begins April 17th, 2010 with free registration. The idea is to track your plant’s growth with weekly height readings. The judging will take place on, Saturday, September 25th. The sunflower heads will be judged and scored on the diameter in cm across the head of the flower. The top 3 winners will each receive a prize. Bring the kids to the market this Saturday and have them register for the contest. This is a great way to introduce your kids to the basics of plant growing and should help create an interest that will make your child curious about growing vegetables or other flowers during the summer months.
