Where:  Heritage Hall, Pier 21 Immigration Museum
When:  6:30 – 9:30 pm. Pre-registration is required. Email to register

This workshop will provide you with writing exercises that will help you put pen to paper. Family stories that have never been written down, remembrances of your child hood. Break into small groups where facilitators will lead writing exercises in memoir style or creative non-fiction writing.  Everyone has a story to tell, get yours started.  Space for 75 participants.  Instructors:  Lorri Neilsen Glenn, Julie Vandervoort and Don Aker

8:00 – 9:00 pm DRUM!POWER
This exciting workshop was created out of the award-winning Nova Scotian musical spectacular, DRUM!  Based on the concept that every culture has its own distinct rhythm, but when brought together creates a harmonic, unifying experience.

Led by four artists each representing one of the principles founding cultures of Nova Scotia – black, aboriginal, celtic, and Acadian – every participant becomes involved – sharing the stories and artistry of the facilitators, learning about the history of their cultures and rhythmic expressions – while discovering their own creative abilities in a delightfully engaging way. An uplifting and unifying event that demonstrates:  “we can remain who we are and still share a song, a stage, a country, a world.”  You will be playing instruments by the end of this session.  There is no charge for this session and we can take up to 150 participants. Email to register with drum in the subject line.
