It’s Back to the Future Day! Why? Because this is the day, Wednesday, October 21, 2015, that Marty McFly arrived (from 1985) in Doc’s time machine in the movie, Back to the Future 2!
Happy Back to the Future Day!
Are you celebrating today in your homeschool? We are getting started by watching the entire Back to the Future trilogy together, which we own on DVD because we are big fans! We are also dressing up a bit, just for fun. My daughter is donning a pink top and pink tutu much like one of the girls in the 2015 diner in Back to the Future 2. I am dressed up in cowboy style garb a la Back to the Future 3. For supper, we are having meatloaf, which is what Marty was served by his grandparents when he travelled back to 1955.
We have been having a lot of fun discussing everything Back to the Future 2 got right about 2015. We have video chat, thanks to Skype and FaceTime. We also have such a thing as phone glasses – Google Glass – although they haven’t taken off in the mainstream market. Sadly, there are no flying cars, but there are hover board prototypes!
If you don’t own the movies, check out your local Cinexplex movie theatre for the #BTTF2015 Event. In many locations, they are showing the first two movies in the trilogy today and all three movies on Sunday. Unfortunately, we have schedule conflicts, or we would be at the theatre for sure!
So, whether you dress up, bake the jailbird cake from the first movie, or just have fun discussing the 50s, 80s, and today as shown in the trilogy, have fun enjoying Back to the Future Day in your homeschool! If you’re looking for more ideas to celebrate today, check out this Back to the Future party board on Pinterest that I stumbled across.

Sounds like fun!
My kids probably aren’t old enough to appreciate this sort of celebration and I confess that I haven’t even seen the movie! I’m sure if my husband knew he would make me watch it ASAP LOL!
It’s definitely not appropriate for little ones. Maybe your hubby will drag you to the showing of the trilogy in theatres on Sunday 🙂
I never would have thought they come up with ways to celebrate a day from a movie. 😉 The silliness of it all makes me smile. Smiles are good. 🙂
I guess it’s more of a geek thing, Annette. We are a family of geeks 🙂
So fun! I wish these movies were more appropriate for younger kids. I’ve watched them with my husband a few times, but our kids are a long way from being able to see them.
I agree, so much of it is family friendly that it’s too bad some of it isn’t. But it’s something to look forward to when the kids are older 🙂
