Class Acts Drama School Summer Day Camps
Sydney
Registration June 18, 9am-3pm at the Southend Community Centre.
Schedule:
Improv 1 (age 9-12), July 4-8
A week of theatre game skills that conclude with a fun filled theatre games competition
Acting Primer (High School), July 11-15
A course in making choices: Script analysis, Character analysis, Objectives and Obstacles, Tactics, Physicalization, Staging a scene, Rehearsal techniques, Character Development, Emotional Expression and Response
Improv 2 (13+), July 18 – 22
This improv camp for older students will advance their skills in both short and long-form improvisation.
All camps run 9am – 3pm at the Southend Community Centre. The fee for each camp is $140 to be paid upon registration.

Fortress of Louisbourg
Louisbourg
The Fortress holds three camp-style programs for youth every summer. Must be a member – family membership is only $15 and you can buy a membership and register for programs online.
Children’s Program for ages 5-12. 5 days. Approx. $75
Dress up in 18th century clothing, eat period snacks, play period games, and more.
Youth Apprenticeship for ages 13-16. 5 days. Approx. $75
Must have completed one year in the Children’s Program. Dress in 18th century clothing and learn baking, soldiering, blacksmithing, gardening, cooking, lace making, fishing, music, craft making, or helping to supervise child animators (choose two).
Youth Fife and Drum Program for ages 12-16 with some experience playing the drum, fife, or flute. Audition required.

Savoy “Got Glee?” Summer Musical Theatre Program
Glace Bay
10 day camp, $350, Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm
July 4-15th, for ages 9-18
Directed by Gayle Lahey & Todd Marsh. Exposes students to modern music, movement, acting, and film! Students will also be rehearsing and preparing for a live musical theatre performance which will take place on the main stage of the Savoy Theatre on July 15th! Call 902-842-1577 to register.

C@P Society of Cape Breton Technology Camps
For ages 8 to 13. 9am-3pm daily
Your child will get to work with cutting-edge technology education toys and learn fundamental concepts related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

Coding Camp

Six camps available. Each week is a mixture of learning and fun activities: building competitions and playing on servers. Every day students will get work on a STEM challenge and play games at a nearby park.

Take part in this special living-history program for children and get a sense of what life was like for Gaels in those days past. The program features special hands-on activities including chores, crafts, games, language, and song. Costumes are provided. For ages 8-12 only. 10 am to 4 pm. $30 per child. Prepaid reservations required. No refunds or discounts. 13% HST included.
Thursdays – Na Deugairean/ The Teenagers Living History Program for Youth
Partake in this special living-history program for teens and get a sense of the responsibilities and the lifestyles of young Gaels in days past. The program features special hands-on activities including chores, crafts, language and song. Costumes are provided. For ages 13-17. 10 am to 4 pm. $30 per child. Prepaid reservations required. No refunds or discounts. 13% HST included.
Fridays – Spors/Fun Gaelic Games for Kids
Join us for a morning of interactive games that focus on language, song, dance and other aspects of Scottish heritage. Gaelic games such as Tunnag Tunnag Geadh, Duck Duck Goose, center on basic Gaelic vocabulary and phrases which are incorporated into fun and engaging games for children. Spors is for children aged 5-10. 10 am to 12 pm. Free admission.

Super Summer Day Camp

    ages 5 and up at all abilities levels

    Fun ways to make art
    2 days July 11 -12
    Cost: $50 a variety of art supplies provided
    5 and up all ability levels welcome
    9am to 3pm

    Learn an assortment of fun and creative ways to express your ideas. Campers will learn to use a variety of materials and explore art forms, including painting, drawing and sculpture.

    Comic book and Anime Camp
    2 days July 13-14
    Cost: $50 all art supplies and technical equipment provided
    Age 10 plus all ability levels welcome
    9am to 3pm

    Kids explore the art of comic books, including anime. Campers will learn about sequential art, and paneling. They will use different drawing,ilustration and coloring techniques, including both traditional and digital.

    Photography Camp
    2 days July 18-19
    Cost: $50 own camera or smart phone required
    10 and up all ability levels welcome
    9am to 3pm

    Both digital and traditional photography methods explored.
    Campers will photograph in a landscape setting and in a lighting studio. They will learn Adobe Photoshop and digital editing techinques and darkroom processes.

    Animation Camp
    2 days July 20-21
    Cost: $50 all art supplies and technical equipment provided
    Age 10 plus all ability levels welcome July 20-21
    9am to 3pm

    Structured classes give students hands on experience with a variety of animation styles including, hand-drawn animation, cut-out animation, claymation, stop-motion, and green screen effects.
